Letterheards

Posted in Uncategorized by cyuegds on February 4, 2010

These are some letterheads that I found in an issue of Communication Arts. They were featured as one of the winners in their design competition. The top one is fresh and playful while the bottom one is more clean and fun. The top one is also more feminine, in my opinion. I also like the top one more than the one below it. I’m actually surprised the bottom one was a winner! I wonder what makes it so successful?

Trademarks

In the November/December 2009 issue of Communicative Arts, they feature the winners of the 50th Annual Design Competition. These were some of the trademark winners for these (this is a scanned image from the magazine, which is where I got the image). I always love looking at successful logos/trademarks to see which ones are considered winners by the professionals so I can learn from them and be inspired. My favorite one is “Mebo”. Mebo is a kid lunchbox system and the colors really speak to the target audience and I like the little leaf to make the “b” into an apple. That logo seems fun, playful and friendly. The kerning is also really tight.

Apothia

In the November/December issue of Communicative Arts, they feature the winners of the 50th Annual Design Competition. In the packaging area, Apothia was one of the winners for these (this is a scanned image from the magazine, which is where I got the image). The reason this won is because it is functional, clean modern design, and works well as a series of many different scents. I really like the clean simple look of it as well as the easy to read/find scent name. This has a contemporary and modern feel to it and seems a little feminine. It is also very calm and warm. I love that graphic design can be applied not only to print or the web but also to the way items are packaged or presented.
